Milan, 18 March 2009 – ItacaLibri, in collaboration with The William G. Congdon Foundation, presents ‘William Congdon – Life and Works’, a DVD on the works and life of the famous American artist who was influenced by the New York School and associated with the great  Abstract Expressionists.
The DVD investigates William Congdon through previously unseen documents, interviews, image galleries and the full version of the documentary broadcast on Rete 4 on December 28, 2008 (and again on February 1st due to its popularity).
Besides outlining the artist’s life and work, the DVD discusses Congdon not just as a great painter but also as a man of his time, narrating the artistic and inner paths that led him to break away from Abstract Expressionism to find his own personal language, and emphasizing his decisive relationship with Italy, where he spent almost fifty years, in Venice, Assisi and the Lombardy countryside, until the end of his life. It was here that his pictorial language matured and found its ultimate expression.
